Then/than?
Because the students will have fun with it with some chants. Because the might bring Gene over during the broadcast for a few minutes and they can trade some barbs. Because he actually knows hoops and doesn't go out of his way to kiss people's asses as most do from ESPN. I didn't catch the Xavier-Butler broadcast but he wasn't afraid to expand on calling out those coaches whose former schools keep getting wins vacated. If he praises someone (as he did Painter and his program during the broadcast at Minn last year) it's because he means it. |

Nice win today. Michigan is mediocre at best even with Harris. They were pretty much garbage without him.
Good to see the General back in W Lafayette. You'd think the way Purdue plays, they'd be one of his favorite teams to watch. It's always nice to hear him saying such nice things about "the Purdues." I'm sure he relishes the opportunity to stick it to IU by sucking off Purdue, but I think a lot of the praise is pretty genuine. They run a variation of his motion offense, they play tough man to man defense, and they feature a few prominent white players. That's Bob Knight basketball right there.

Whew. Ugly win, but a good win, and a win they absolutely had to have. That big white kid from Wiscy was incredible. 7-8 from 3 and 25 points? At this point, we'll take any wins over ranked teams, no matter how they come.

Yeah it was nice they had a 7 point lead with 2 minutes to go and decided to go to the slow down offense only to let wisconsin go on an 8 point run.

I hate to sound like countless talking heads, but that's how they always come when you beat Wisconsin. That team, under Bo Ryan, does a fantastic job of controlling the tempo and making it physical. And the officiating wasn't the best tonight, either. Good win for Purdue.

What the hell is it with that Nankovil guy? He was 5 for 5 on 3's against us last year and was unconscious again yesterday. Come on man, do that against MSU or something. I was huffing and puffing at the end last night. I so thought Hughes's shot was going to bank in with a couple secs left. Hummel also definitely got away with a foul on his 3 attempt.
What the hell was with the refs the first 5 mins of the 2nd half? They allowed a physical game with few calls the first 20 mins and then suddenly decided to get the stats up with 8 touch foul calls in a row 20 ft from the basket? Made no sense. Purdue got away with one yesterday as it was oh so close to being a repeat of the OSU game where they led most of the way in the second half, up 7 with just under 2 mins, and found themselves trailing. Purdue has a problem closing games. We saw it in the Michigan game too. Up 27 and then they sleepwalked through the the final 10 mins and only won by 10. Right now Hummel and Moore are playing at an all-Big Ten 1st team level, JJ is good when he shows up 2 of every 4 games, Kramer and Grant have been disappointments as seniors, especially Grant. Kramer has an excuse for being a defensive liability the last 4 games as he's playing with a high ankle sprain. John Hart has been a great surprise the last 3 games and is an athletic spark off the bench. It was great to see LewJack in last night. Lisfranc injuries vary in severity a great deal, but regardless, it is wonderful to have him, his speed to the basket, and ability to defend, back. He played about 9 mins last night which I think was perfect. We need him back full strength by the MSU game to put him on Lucas. While it still sucks that Purdue is 3 back, and while I have declared Purdue out of the Big Ten race as of the NW loss, I still want to leave the door cracked. MSU should win it and I think we all have a hard time seeing them lose 4 of their final 10, but I have this gut feeling that MSU is going to lose at least 2 of their next 4, and maybe even 3 of the group vs NW, at Wisc, at IL, and vs Purdue. If they go 3-1 of 4-0, then of course it's officially over. But just seeing them eek out 1 point wins as their schedule has gotten a little tougher on the road, I think there are some chinks there that may turn into losses. If NW shows up Saturday with the look in their eye and making there 3's I think they have a hell of a chance to win. |

Bo Ryan is the new Gene Keady.
Takes any mixed bag of cast-offs and leads them to the upper part of the conference year after year. Go ahead and pick them 8th or 9th, he'll make you look foolish. Skeletor is a freakin' witch! |

MSU twice, OSU, Iowa, Minny and Ill remaining. Three and three home and away. At home against Sparty the final game could be a preview of the B10 tourney final.

Are you kidding me? The most current schedule in his wallet has Rick Mount as a freshman on the opposite side.
